ASTM for Stormwater Professionals – Part 2

Description

The stormwater industry currently lacks consistent standards for evaluating the performance of stormwater control measures (SCMs).  There are state programs, particularly in New Jersey and Washington, that require testing and verification of technologies but they are limited in scope.This gap is being addressed by ASTM, which has recently published two standards and which has several more standards under development.  The Stormwater Testing and Evaluation of Products and Practices (STEPP) program has been working with ASTM on standards development and is preparing to launch a national program for trash capture device verification using a recently published standard.Part 2 of this two-part series goes into the new stormwater standards in detail.  In other words, it addresses the tools in the toolbox.  It also provides guidelines on how these standards can be used to choose between different SCMs.
