This session will provide an overview of practitioner-ready innovative tools and approaches from universities and leading-edge thinkers around the country. Attendees can expect to learn about tools, methods and studies that will improve the performance of their MS4 program while also reducing risk and cost.

About the Presenters
Scott Meyer received a BS in geology from UC Davis in 1994 and a MS in geology from Washington State University in 1999. He has worked at the Office of Water Programs at California State University, Sacramento for the past 25 years where he has created software tools that model stormwater runoff and tested stormwater treatment devices in the Lake Tahoe Basin. He has taught engineering geology at Sacramento State for the past 20 years.
Brian Currier, a research engineer with the Office of Water Programs at California State University, Sacramento, holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Davis, and is a California-licensed Professional Engineer. Brian previously served on the boards for both the California Stormwater Quality Association (CASQA) and the National Municipal Stormwater Alliance (NMSA). He is a member of the Transportation Research Board Standing Committee on Hydrology, Hydraulics, and Stormwater.
Trey Shanks, CFM, IAM, is a Vice President/Principal and manages Freese and Nichols’ Infrastructure Management Consulting group. He is an experienced project manager for financial and asset management projects. His team of professionals applies financial planning and asset management concepts to assist public sector clients serving from 5,000 to over 1 million in population. He has conducted numerous asset inventory and condition assessments for public storm system infrastructure, establishing a prioritization approach for system maintenance, and providing a foundation for master planning and capital improvements. He has worked with numerous cities to implement and updating dedicated funding mechanisms as part of their infrastructure management programs. Working with clients to understand or develop goals for managing their infrastructure, Trey has tailored his projects to meet clients’ expectations for long-term ongoing use.
