In communities across the nation, extreme weather patterns are preventing the ability of centralized utility providers to recover appropriately from storms. Rethinking the way we manage and operate utilities presents an opportunity to build more resilient infrastructure. The engineered design presented in this abstract utilizes the sidewalk to collect and manage stormwater by way of innovation in permeable pavement, while making use of existing grey infrastructure as corridors to connect water, internet, and energy utilities. This decentralized approach to utility management and operation is engineered to include bi-facial solar application, low frequency broadband within the sidewalk, and green infrastructure efficiency in the distribution of stormwater as a fresh water asset, providing for increased recovery of utility operation both during and after wet weather events.
