Son of SSEC’s founder, Jay W. Selby, Jay literally grew up in the industry and the company. He became full time partner straight out of school in 1995, gradually expanding his role and eventually becoming President of SSEC in 2000. As President / CEO of three companies—SSEC, Selby’s Soil Erosion Control, and SSEC Apex—Jay spends his time across the Pacific North West managing offices in CA, ID, and WA. In addition, Jay is working hard to educate and train the next generation of erosion and sediment control professionals.

Over the years, Jay has worked in every aspect of the company. Notable projects include recovery efforts after the 2007 Angora Fire in Tahoe, the 2007 San Diego Firestorm, the Rim Fire in Yosemite, Santa Rosa Fires, Oroville Dam Recovery and, most recently, the Camp Fire. He’s also worked on the I-65 Bypass Freeway in Lincoln, CA; Vasco Wind Farms in Livermore, CA; the Sacramento Southport Levee; and the Emigrant Gap I-80 15-mile widening project.
