The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is evaluating implementation of stormwater management projects including green infrastructure for its nine campuses located in Los Angeles County, Calif. With the passage of Bond Measure CC, a $3.3 billion bond for constructing and improving facilities throughout the nine colleges of LACCD, as well as pending designation under the next Small MS4 Permit by the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), Olaunu and LACCD have identified more than 50 stormwater projects at each of the nine colleges. Olaunu performed a planning level analysis and scoped the identified stormwater projects for each college, including identification of the location, drainage area, type of structural storm water measure, and initial sizing of the structural stormwater measures for each campus. The concept designs included a more detailed analysis of the stormwater projects and their elements, and establishment of the project design criteria. This process included collecting and confirming as-built information for each of the campuses. Design plans are developed at the Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), and Construction Document (CD) phases. Once the construction documents are completed a bid process will commence for contractors to construct the LACCD stormwater projects. Olaunu has also developed an O&M manual specific to the LACCD stormwater projects. The development of the LACCD stormwater projects has created a pathway for LACCD meeting future compliance under the Small MS4 Permit.
