Integrated Urban Drainage Modeling: Rising to the Challenge of 21st Century Urban Flood Risk

This course will cover how integrating one-dimensional and two-dimensional overland flood models is changing how urban drainage solutions are being developed.

0.1 CEU/1 PDH

The course will cover how integrating one-dimensional and two-dimensional overland flood models is changing how urban drainage solutions are being developed. We will examine some complex urban flood risk problems and how above and below ground solutions are developed in tandem and the importance of demonstrating how well these solutions are working together. This session will show examples of where applying gray and green infrastructure solutions has created a positive outcome for all.

This course also shows lessons learned when using these models to determine cost-effective and sustainable solutions.

Learning Objectives:
After successfully completing this course, attendees should be able to:

  • Identify the challenges faced in urban drainage flooding
  • Examine the complex interactions of urban flooding
  • Identify modeling solutions
